Premium and Elite MCAT Tutoring

As seen in:

For those students and parents who have the highest MCAT goals, we offer our best MCAT tutors. Through our Premium or Elite tutoring programs, students can work with Next Step’s top level instructors.

Our Premium Tutoring will pair you up with a 99th percentile scoring instructor with at least two years of MCAT teaching experience. We will put together a package with the right number of hours to help you reach your MCAT goal.

Our Elite MCAT Tutoring Program is an opportunity to work with the top MCAT instructors in the country. Our Elite Program is a set number of hours over four months. The tuition covers tutoring hours, frequent email contact, and of course, all books and materials. The most important part of this program is that it gives you the opportunity to work with either Bryan Schnedeker or Dr. Anthony LaFond:

Bryan is Next Step’s National MCAT Director. That means he managers all of our MCAT instructors nationally; he is also the lead developer of our MCAT practice tests and books.
Dr. Anthony Lafond MD/PhD is Next Step’s National Content Director and our most highly qualified and highly rated MCAT tutor. He has over a decade of teaching and tutoring experience.
Bryan and Dr. Anthony are not only the best instructors that Next Step has to offer, they are arguably some of the best that are available anywhere.

Scott SymondsScott graduated from Williams College in 2013 as a double major in chemistry and Spanish. He is currently pursuing a Masters degree in Spain before beginning medical school at the University of Pennsylvania. He scored a 40Q (99th percentile) on his MCAT (14 PS, 12 VS, 14 BS). He has extensive tutoring experience at the high school through advanced college level, including work in Spanish, and the MCAT including a focus on chemistry and physiology. In an addition to a passion for the material tested on the MCAT, Scott really enjoys helping his students increase their understanding of difficult concepts and passages. When not tutoring, Scott loves spending time outdoors and works part-time on an ambulance.

Here’s what Scott’s last student said about him:

“I improved 18 points in 8 weeks, from a 503 to a 521! My goal was 515-516, and lots of people were telling me to aim lower. After Scott met with me once and saw how I worked and approached the test, he told me to go for my goal. He was a great teacher, particularly in chem and physics, which were my weaknesses. He also believed in me which made a big difference. I know this kind of score improvement is extremely rare, and I am simply elated!”

– Marina G.

Brandon is a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, where he majored in Biomedical Engineering. Brandon will be attending Weill Cornell Medical College in the fall of 2015. He has tutored and mentored students for 8 years in various capacities. Brandon scored a 42 on his own MCAT, including 99th percentile in the verbal reasoning. He enjoys tutoring because it allows him to use his own experiences to help others reach their academic goals. In his spare time, Brandon enjoys reading, playing the drums, and volunteering as a tutor for disadvantaged students.

Here is what one of Brandon’s students had to say about him:

Brandon was invaluable throughout the process and helped me really understand the material and why it was important. Every week he was patient and supportive and took time to explain concepts in various ways to ensure understanding. He never looked down at [me] for not grasping something “simple” and worked hard to make sure I left these sessions with confidence in my work. Additionally, Brandon was always cheerful and fully engaged during our sessions early on Friday mornings. He is a great student, teacher, and mentor and I highly recommend him.

Elite MCAT Tutoring Program

Next Step’s Elite MCAT Tutoring course allows you to work with one of our national directors of MCAT tutoring.

Who is Elite Tutoring for?

Next Step offers a range of tutoring options. Our Elite Tutoring offering is the right choice for families who are looking to retain the very best possible help for the MCAT. We are pleased to offer a level of personal service and instructor qualification not available from any other company. Our two Elite instructors each have over a decade of MCAT tutoring experience (first at one of the major test prep companies before joining Next Step) and a history of helping students make significant score gains on the MCAT. In addition to teaching for over a decade, both have spent years developing MCAT curricula and practice passages. While we encourage you to shop around, we believe Bryan and Dr. Lafond are the two best MCAT instructors available anywhere. Next Step is the only major MCAT company to make their senior MCAT management and development staff available to work with students (at any price).

Who are the instructors?

Bryan-Headshot-2-small-fileBryan is Next Step’s National MCAT director. That means he manages all of our MCAT instructors nationally and counsels hundreds of MCAT students when they begin our process. He has over a decade of MCAT teaching and tutoring experience (starting at one of the big prep course companies before joining our team). He has gone through the med school admissions process himself and has scored a 44 on the MCAT, including a perfect 15 in the Biological and Physical Sciences. In April 2015 Bryan took the new MCAT and scored a 525. He has also authored hundreds of MCAT practice questions.

Bryan also spent several years training dozens of other company’s most experienced tutors. His insight has shaped Next Step’s entire approach to the MCAT, and his rigorously high standards ensure that Next Step’s MCAT offerings are the finest available.

Since Bryan has extensive management obligations as well as tutoring, he works with no more than 2 MCAT students at a time. Students will meet online via video conference; we are happy to arrange a live demo with Bryan to demo both his expertise and our video conference technology.

Anthony-(1)_500x333pxDr. Anthony Lafond is Next Step’s National Content Director and our most highly qualified and highly rated MCAT tutor. He has over a decade of teaching and tutoring experience and a proven track record of success helping students succeed on the MCAT. He began his MCAT career over a decade ago as Bryan’s very first trainee at one of the big national companies.

Anthony was admitted to UMDNJ’s MD/PhD program and recently finished his dual-degree program. In the course of obtaining his MD/PhD Anthony was able to continue his teaching work, both at UMDNJ and on MCAT prep. His experience both in the wards and in the lab have helped deepen his appreciation for the value of multi-modal learning to help deepen understanding.

Because Dr. Lafond has significant management obligations and is working closely with Bryan to develop Next Step’s MCAT 2015 materials, he can only work with 2 students at a time. Students will meet with Dr. Lafond online via video conference; we are happy to arrange a live demo with Anthony to demonstrate both his expertise and the online technology.
